Roye a Finalist for NFCA National Freshman of the Year

TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa freshman Jill Roye was named as a top 25 finalist for the inaugural NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year award, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced Thursday.
Roye, an infielder/DP from Red Oak, Okla., is hitting .402 with a team-leading 32 RBI in 40 games this season. She has started 34 total games - 22 as the designated player and 12 at first base - and has compiled six home runs, four doubles, 14 runs, a .655 slugging percentage and a .495 on-base percentage.
Roye's .402 batting average ranks 10th in the NCAA among freshmen, while her .495 OBP is 11th and her .655 slugging is 13th nationally among freshmen.
The top 10 finalists will be announced on May 8, and the top three finalists will be announced on May 22. The inaugural NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year trophy will be presented on May 27 at the NCAA Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City.
