TU at UCF Weekend Notes

TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa softball team travels to Orlando, Fla., to play UCF in a key Conference USA series this weekend at the UCF Softball Complex.

The series begins with a doubleheader Saturday at noon CT and concludes with a single game Sunday at 11 a.m. CT. Live stats via Gametracker will be available at www.TulsaHurricane.com.

Tulsa (25-17, 8-3 C-USA) sits in second place in the C-USA standings, while UCF (27-19, 11-6 C-USA) is currently fourth. Teams are jockeying for C-USA tournament position, and at least five teams - Tulsa and UCF, along with East Carolina, UAB and UTEP - are fighting for the regular season league title.

The Golden Hurricane is hitting .287 (323-for-1127) on the season with 203 runs, 189 RBI, 54 doubles, 40 home runs, 130 walks, a .443 slugging percentage and a .365 on-base percentage. TU pitchers carry a 2.99 ERA in 283.1 innings, allowing 258 hits, 148 runs, 121 earned runs, 131 walks and 291 strikeouts, and a .239 opponent batting average.

Tulsa is led in hitting by senior right fielder Lauren Lindsay who is hitting .435 (54-for-124) with 40 runs, 45 RBI, 13 doubles, 17 home runs, 32 walks, a .952 slugging percentage, and a .551 on-base percentage. Freshman shortstop Samantha Cobb is second on the team with 40 RBI and is hitting .350 (50-for-143) with 27 runs, 12 home runs, six doubles, seven walks, a .643 slugging percentage and a .386 on-base percentage. Freshman center fielder Caitlin Everett is hitting .338 (47-for-139) with 31 runs, 17 RBI, five doubles, 11 walks and a .382 on-base percentage.

In the circle, senior Jackie Lawrence is 10-6 with a 3.02 ERA and has allowed 117 hits, 63 runs, 51 earned runs, 47 walks, 96 strikeouts and a .255 opponent batting average in 118.1 innings. Freshman Kalynn Schrock is 9-5 with a 2.65 ERA and has allowed 56 hits, 38 runs, 30 earned runs, 40 walks, 105 strikeouts and a .197 opponent batting average in 79.1 innings. Junior Jordan Kinard is 6-6 with a 3.27 ERA and has allowed 85 hits, 47 runs, 40 earned runs, 44 walks, 90 strikeouts and a .258 opponent batting average in 85.2 innings.

 

 

UCF enters the game with a .234 batting average (274-for-1172) with 152 runs, 123 RBI, 38 doubles, 11 triples, 13 home runs, 101 walks, a .318 slugging percentage, and a .304 on-base percentage. Knights pitchers carry a 1.89 ERA in 322.0 innings, allowing 261 hits, 128 runs, 87 earned runs, 110 walks, 213 strikeouts and a .218 opponent batting average.

UCF's leading hitter is sophomore second baseman Natalie Land, who is hitting .303 with 24 runs scored, 13 RBI, and has a .355 on-base percentage. Senior third baseman Hillary Barrow is UCF's leading run-producer with 27 RBI, 25 runs scored and five home runs, and she hits .246 with seven doubles, a .410 slugging percentage, and a .336 on-base percentage. The Knights are led in the circle by senior Ashleigh Cole, who is 17-11 and leads the team with a 1.50 ERA, allowing 135 hits, 57 runs, 40 earned runs, 53 walks, 127 strikeouts, and a .199 opponent batting average in 186.2 innings. Senior Kristina DeMello is 6-6 and has a 2.33 ERA, allowing 91 hits, 48 runs, 31 earned runs, 30 walks, 71 strikeouts and a .249 opponent batting average in 93.1 innings.

Tulsa leads the all-time series against UCF, 7-6. The Golden Hurricane swept the three-game set in Tulsa last season, 7-6 (11), 7-2, and 8-2. In 2008, UCF swept three games from TU in Orlando, including two shutouts. The Knights won two of three in Tulsa in 2007 before eliminating the Hurricane from the conference tournament, and TU swept the series in Orlando in 2006. Tulsa is 3-4 against UCF in Orlando, including the 2007 C-USA tournament game, and TU is 4-2 against the Knights in Tulsa.
