TULSA, Okla. - The 16th-ranked Tulsa softball team closes out its home schedule with a midweek nonconference contest against Oklahoma State at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Collins Family Softball Complex.

The Golden Hurricane (45-5, 18-2 C-USA) defeated the Cowgirls (25-23, 5-11 Big 12) last week in a classic 1-0 pitcher's duel in Stillwater. TU has won eight games in a row entering Wednesday's contest. Live video and live stats will be available on www.TulsaHurricane.com.

Horner's RBI Single in Sixth Inning gave No. 15 Tulsa a 1-0 Win over Host OSU
Catherine Horner's RBI single in the sixth inning and Aimee Creger's three-hit shutout gave No. 15 University of Tulsa (42-5) a 1-0 win over Oklahoma State (24-21) at Cowgirl Stadium on Wednesday night.


The Hurricane is ranked No. 16 in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 and No. 18 in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 polls released April 29.

Tulsa hits .342 (468-for-1370) with 289 RBI, 319 runs, 71 doubles, 16 triples and 50 home runs, and has a .526 slugging percentage and a .420 on-base percentage with 169 walks. The Hurricane has a 1.46 team ERA with 390 strikeouts, 127 walks, 213 hits, 92 runs and 69 earned runs allowed, and has a .180 opponent batting average.

Tulsa is led in hitting by senior shortstop Jill Barrett, who has a .469 (84-for-179) batting average with 47 runs scored, seven doubles, 26 RBI, a .603 slugging percentage and a .510 OBP. Freshman DP Jill Roye hits .364 (36-for-99) with 15 runs, 32 RBI, a .586 slugging and a .457 OBP. Senior center fielder Cierra Hughes hits .349 (44-for-126) with 34 runs, five doubles, three triples, five homers, 30 RBI, a .556 slugging percentage and a .465 OBP. Junior catcher Erica Sampson hits .333 (49-for-147) with 33 RBI, 41 runs, eight doubles, nine homers, 25 walks, a .571 slugging and a .459 OBP. Freshman third baseman Maggie Withee is hitting .353 (42-for-119) with 26 runs, 12 RBI, three doubles, three triples and a .394 OBP. Senior right fielder Haley Henshaw is hitting .331 (42-for-127) with 32 RBI, 24 runs, seven doubles, six homers, a .543 slugging and a .406 OBP. Junior first baseman Julie Kernen is hitting .325 (40-for-123) with 38 RBI, 23 runs, 15 doubles, seven home runs, a .618 slugging and .399 OBP.

 

 

In the circle, senior Aimee Creger is 23-1 with a 1.08 ERA in 161.2 innings, and has allowed 73 hits, 30 runs and 25 earned runs, with 278 strikeouts and 79 walks. Junior Bailey Erwin is 12-2 with a 1.34 ERA in 89.0 innings with four saves, and is allowing 78 hits, 28 runs and 17 earned runs with 55 strikeouts and 14 walks. Sophomore Caitlin Sill is 10-2 with a 2.34 ERA in 80.2 innings, allowing 62 hits, 32 runs and 27 earned runs, with 57 strikeouts and 31 walks.

This will be the 40th meeting between Tulsa and Oklahoma State. Oklahoma State leads the series 26-13. The Golden Hurricane won 1-0 last week in Stillwater, and claimed both meetings last season, winning 5-1 in Tulsa and 8-2 in Stillwater. The Cowgirls won four in a row in the series prior to last season, including a 7-4 win in Tulsa, and an 8-3 win in Stillwater in 2012 OSU won 2-0 in Tulsa in 2011. The teams split in 2010; TU won 6-2 in Stillwater and OSU won 3-1 in Tulsa. The Hurricane won the only meeting in 2006, the Cowgirls won the only meeting in 2007 and 2008, and won two of three in 2009. TU is 5-8 vs. OSU since 2006.
