TULSA, Okla. - The 24th-ranked Tulsa softball returns home to the friendly confines of the Collins Family Softball Complex to play host to non-conference foe Missouri State at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The Golden Hurricane enters the game 37-13-1 overall and 16-5 in C-USA play, while Missouri State comes in at 19-27 overall and 10-11 in the Missouri Valley. The Hurricane, which is ranked No. 24 in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Top 25 poll, played its last seven games on the road, and is playing at home for the first time since April 14.

Softball Wins 2-1 Pitcher's Duel at Missouri State
Lacey Middlebrooks struck out a career-high 10 batters in a complete game effort and scored the winning run to lead Tulsa to a 2-1 eight-inning win at Missouri State Wednesday evening at Killian Softball Stadium.


Tulsa hits .294 (416-for-1415) with 237 RBI, 262 runs, 68 doubles, 12 triples and 31 home runs, and has a .425 slugging percentage and a .373 on-base percentage with 161 walks. TU has a 1.85 team ERA with 356 strikeouts, 156 walks, 252 hits, 118 runs and 90 earned runs allowed, and has a .205 opponent batting average.

The Hurricane is led in hitting by junior third baseman Jill Barrett, who hits .406 (71-for-175) with 37 runs scored, 27 RBI, a .497 slugging percentage and a .450 OBP. Senior shortstop Samantha Cobb hits .335 (56-for-167) with 43 RBI, 37 runs, eight homers, four triples, seven doubles, a .569 slugging percentage and a .411 on-base percentage. Junior Haley Henshaw hits .326 (47-for-144) with 39 RBI, four home runs, seven doubles 25 runs, a .486 slugging percentage and a .376 on-base percentage. Senior center fielder Caitlin Everett hits .314 (58-for-185) with 40 runs, a .357 slugging percentage and a .347 OBP. Senior Lacey Middlebrooks hits .306 (37-for-121) with 20 runs, 25 RBI, six home runs, 11 doubles, 27 walks, a .545 slugging percentage and a .447 OBP.

 

 

In the circle, junior Aimee Creger is 21-5 with a 1.06 ERA in 164.2 innings, and has allowed 104 hits, 30 runs and 25 earned runs, with 242 strikeouts and 60 walks. Middlebrooks is 13-3 with a 1.65 ERA in 119.0 innings, and has allowed 80 hits, 44 runs and 28 earned runs, with 85 strikeouts and 75 walks.

Missouri State hits .287 (348-for-1211) with 213 runs, 191 RBI, 51 doubles, four triples, 26 home runs, a .400 slugging percentage and a .354 on-base percentage. The Bears pitching staff carries a 4.45 ERA with 123 strikeouts, 111 walks, 379 hits, 229 runs, 193 earned runs and a .302 opponent batting average in 303.2 innings.

Tulsa and Missouri State have played 39 times. Missouri State leads the series, 21-18. The Golden Hurricane has won the last eight meetings between the two schools, including a 2-1 victory in Springfield last year. TU also won in Tulsa, 4-0, in 2011, and twice in the NCAA Regional, 9-7 and 11-0. The Bears last defeated the Hurricane in 2006, when it won, 5-2 and 2-1, in Springfield.
