C-USA Championship BacketGet Acrobat Reader

TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa softball team will be the No. 1 seed at the Conference USA Championship May 8-10 in Boca Raton, Fla., and will open the tournament against eighth-seeded Charlotte at 3 p.m. CT Thursday at FAU Softball Stadium.

The Golden Hurricane, ranked No. 16 nationally, brings a 47-7 overall record and a 19-4 league mark into the postseason tournament. The 49ers have a 20-28 overall record and put up a 10-13 mark in C-USA play.

Tulsa swept Charlotte during the regular season by scores of 7-0, 9-0, and 10-1, back on March 22-23 in Tulsa.

The Hurricane won its fifth C-USA regular season title in nine seasons as a member of the league. Tulsa has won the tournament championship on three previous occasions - in 2006, 2009 and 2012. TU was the top seed each year it has won the tournament.

The C-USA Championship features eight teams in a single elimination format. Four games will be played on Thursday, May 8, the semifinals will be played on Friday, May 9, and the championship game will take place at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday. The championship contest will be televised by CBS Sports Network.

Second-seeded UAB and seventh-seeded Marshall kick-off the championship at 10 a.m. CT Thursday, followed by the third-seed FIU and the sixth-seed East Carolina at 12:30 p.m. Tournament host and fourth-seeded Florida Atlantic will play fifth-seeded North Texas at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, following the Tulsa game.

The first semifinal between the winners of UAB-Marshall and FIU-East Carolina will be played at 1 p.m. Friday. The second semifinal between the winners of Tulsa-Charlotte and Florida Atlantic-North Texas will take place at 3:30 p.m. Friday.
