TULSA, Okla. - The third-seeded Golden Hurricane opens the 2013 Conference USA Championship against sixth-seeded UCF at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Collins Family Softball Complex.

Tulsa (41-13-1, 19-5 C-USA) and UCF (28-24, 9-14 C-USA) meet in the second game of the eight-team single elimination tournament. No. 18 Softball Defeats UCF, 7-0, to Complete Series Sweep
Aimee Creger pitched a one-hit gem and Tulsa scored seven runs in the fifth inning to complete its Conference USA series sweep of UCF with a 7-0 victory Saturday afternoon at the Collins Family Softball Complex.

Tulsa hits .302 (459-for-1521) with 265 RBI, 290 runs, 78 doubles, 13 triples and 35 home runs, and has a .439 slugging percentage and a .380 on-base percentage with 172 walks. The Hurricane has a 1.81 team ERA with 384 strikeouts, 166 walks, 266 hits, 123 runs and 94 earned runs allowed, and has a .202 opponent batting average.

Tulsa is led in hitting by junior third baseman Jill Barrett, who hits .413 (78-for-189) with 40 runs scored, 29 RBI, a .497 slugging percentage and a .454 OBP. Senior shortstop Samantha Cobb hits .346 (62-for-179) with 45 RBI, 39 runs, eight homers, four triples, seven doubles, a .564 slugging percentage and a .422 on-base percentage. Junior Haley Henshaw hits .333 (52-for-156) with 43 RBI, five home runs, eight doubles, 28 runs, a .506 slugging percentage and a .382 on-base percentage. Senior center fielder Caitlin Everett hits .322 (64-for-199) with 42 runs, a .382 slugging percentage and a .358 OBP. Senior Lacey Middlebrooks hits .302 (38-for-126) with 21 runs, 25 RBI, six home runs, 11 doubles, 30 walks, a .532 slugging percentage and a .453 OBP. Sophomore Julie Kernen hits .289 (41-for-142) with 39 RBI, 30 runs, eight homers, eight doubles, 25 walks, a .514 slugging percentage and a .409 OBP.

In the circle, junior Aimee Creger is 24-5 with a 1.00 ERA in 181.2 innings, and has allowed 113 hits, 31 runs and 26 earned runs, with 267 strikeouts and 64 walks. Middlebrooks is 14-3 with a 1.76 ERA in 123.0 innings, and has allowed 84 hits, 48 runs and 31 earned runs, with 87 strikeouts and 80 walks.

UCF hits .224 (289-for-1291) with 162 runs, 136 RBI, 43 doubles, 18 home runs, .299 slugging, 141 walks and .309 on-base percentage. The Knights pitching staff carries a 2.48 ERA with 11 shutouts, 329 strikeouts, 297 hits, 183 runs, 126 earned runs, 163 walks and a .226 opponent batting average in 355.2 innings.

Tulsa and UCF have played 26 times. Tulsa leads the series, 17-9. The Golden Hurricane swept the Knights in Tulsa back March 29-30, by scores of 6-2, 8-1 and 7-0. This is the third meeting between the Hurricane and Knights in the C-USA Tournament. The teams split the previous two meetings, with UCF winning 1-0 in 2007, and Tulsa winning 6-1 in 2011. TU took two of three games in Orlando last season, and swept the last two series played in Tulsa, in 2009 and 2011. The Hurricane is 10-2 all-time against the Knights in Tulsa.
