TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa softball team will be making its sixth NCAA Regional appearance in program history as it faces off against Stanford in the Lincoln Regional at 4 p.m. Friday, May 17.

The 23rd-ranked Golden Hurricane (42-14-1, 19-5 C-USA), which earned an at-large bid, is making its third straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament and sixth in school history, all since 2006. No. 13 Stanford (39-17, 13-11 Pac-12) earned an at-large bid out of the Pac-12 conference.

Regional host and No. 14 seed Nebraska (40-13, 16-6 Big Ten) will play Northern Iowa (26-24, 13-8 MVC) in the other opening round game at 7 p.m. Friday. The four-team regional is double elimination.

"We're excited to be invited into the tournament and have a chance to continue our season," Tulsa Head Coach John Bargfeldtsaid. "We feel like have a good team, and we have an opportunity in front of us. We've prepared for this opportunity all season, and it shows with all the teams we played that are in the tournament. I feel we played a challenging schedule and it helped us prepare going into regionals."

This will be the second meeting between Tulsa and Stanford in the NCAA Tournament. The Cardinal defeated the Hurricane, 8-0, in 2006 in Tulsa's first-ever NCAA postseason game. TU has also previously appeared in the NCAA Tournament in 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2012.

The Golden Hurricane has played 21 games this season against 11 opponents that appear in the 64-team NCAA tournament field. TU posted a 12-9 record against those 11 schools.

Conference USA placed four teams among tournament field. In addition to Tulsa, Houston, Marshall and UAB earned postseason bids. C-USA is tied for the third-most teams represented at the NCAA Tournament behind the SEC's 11 teams and eight by the Pac-12. C-USA is matched in league bids by the Big 12 and the ACC.
