TU Places Three on NFCA All-Midwest Region Team

NORMAN, Okla. - Tulsa sophomore Jill Barrett and juniors Lacey Middlebrooks and Caitlin Everett were named to the 2012 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I All-Midwest Region Teams, the organization announced Thursday.
Barrett and Middlebrooks were selected to the Midwest Region first team, while Everett was a second team selection. Barrett was a first-team selection at third base, Middlebrooks made the first-team as a utility player/pitcher, and Everett was a second-team pick in the outfield. This is the second all-region honor for Everett and first for both Barrett and Middlebrooks.
Barrett, a native of Greenwood, Ark., ranks 19th in the nation with a .430 batting average. She has scored 43 runs, driven in 28 runs, hit five doubles, two triples and two home runs, and has a .514 slugging percentage and a .480 on-base percentage. Barrett also has a .964 fielding percentage with just six errors in 166 chances. She carried a school and C-USA record 25-game hitting streak from March 10 through April 25, and has hit safely in 45 of 53 games this year. Barrett was also a first-team All-Conference USA selection.
Middlebrooks, who hails from Wake Village, Texas, is 20-5 in the circle with a 1.87 ERA in 176.2 innings, and has thrown five shutouts and 19 complete games in 26 starts. She has posted 139 strikeouts, allowing 134 hits, 64 runs, 47 earned runs, 90 walks and a .210 opponent batting average. At the plate, she hits .321, and has 14 doubles, five home runs, 38 RBI, 15 runs scored, 26 walks, and a .533 slugging and .434 on-base percentage. Middlebrooks was also the C-USA co-Pitcher of the Year and an All-C-USA first team selection.
Everett, a native of Forney, Texas, ranks 12th in NCAA averaging 0.62 stolen bases per game (34 total), and ranks 22nd in NCAA in runs per game (1.02) and 13th in triples (5). For the season, she hits .375 with 54 runs scored, 25 RBI, six doubles, five triples, and has a .458 slugging percentage and .423 on-base percentage. She has 22 multi-hit games and six multi-RBI games this season. Everett was also a second-team All-Midwest Region selection in 2011, and a 2012 first-team All-C-USA selection.
