TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa senior Jill Barrett added another national academic honor to her resume Thursday when she was named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America Division I Softball First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Barrett was recently selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team for the third time, and led the Golden Hurricane to within one win of advancing to the Super Regional round of the NCAA Softball Championship.

The infielder from Greenwood, Ark., is also a three-time member of the Conference USA All-Academic Team and a four-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. She has compiled a 3.69 GPA majoring in exercise and sports science, while also working on minors in deaf education and speech pathology.

Barrett was named the 2014 C-USA Player of the Year, is a three-time first-team All-C-USA selection and a three-time NFCA All-Region selection. She is the NCAA career active leader in hits (322), leads the nation with 101 hits this season, and ranks seventh in the country with a .461 batting average. She recorded 33 multiple-hit games in 62 contests, and tallied 15 extra base hits, 30 RBI and scored a school-record 59 runs this season. She set school single season records for batting average, hits, runs scored and on-base percentage (.510).

Barrett is the second player in TU softball history to earn first-team Academic All-America honors, and the school's third Academic All-American overall. Sara Dyer (2005-08) earned first team Academic All-America honors in 2007 and 2008, and Brandi McGuire (2000-03) was a second-team selection in 2003.
