TU SOFTBALL EARNS REGIONAL COACHING STAFF OF THE YEAR HONORS

TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa Head Softball Coach John Bargfeldt and his staff were honored as the 2014 NFCA Mideast Region Coaching Staff of the Year, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced Wednesday.
Bargfeldt, along with Associate Head Coach Crissy Strimple, Assistant Coach Brooke Smart and Volunteer Assistant Coach Jeff Allen, led the Golden Hurricane to a 53-9 record, the Conference USA regular season and tournament championships and an appearance in the NCAA Waco Regional.
TU won its fifth C-USA regular season championship and fourth C-USA Tournament title, and made its seventh NCAA postseason appearance, reaching the final game of the regional. The Hurricane set 19 team single-season records, including wins, fewest losses, batting average (.325), runs (368), hits (553), RBI (333), home runs (59), slugging percentage (.504), on-base percentage (.404), pitching strikeouts (479) and opponent batting average (.183). Bargfeldt was also named the 2014 C-USA Coach of the Year.
This is the first NFCA regional coaching staff honor for the Tulsa softball program.
