Three TU Softball Players Selected to USA Baseball Women's National Team

TULSA, Okla. - University of Tulsa softball seniors Samantha Cobb and Caitlin Everett and junior Jill Barrett were named to the 2012 USA Baseball Women's National Team, USA Baseball announced.

Barrett, Cobb and Everett, as part of the Women's National Team, will compete in the IBAF World Cup in Edmonton, Alberta, Aug. 10-19.

The infielders Barrett and Cobb, and the outfielder Everett were each selected to the All-Conference USA First Team in 2012. Barrett led TU last season with a school-record .416 batting average, along with 43 runs and 29 RBI, Cobb hit .339 with 11 home runs, 46 RBI and 47 runs, and Everett hit .366 with 29 RBI and a school-record 55 runs scored.

The Women's National Team will play an exhibition game in Salt Lake City on Saturday, before traveling to Edmonton for a pair of exhibitions Aug. 7-8 leading up to the World Cup.

The USA will face The Netherlands, Australia, Japan, Canada, Cuba, Chinese Taipei and Venezuela in pool play from Aug. 10-17. The top four teams from pool play will advance to the medal rounds Aug. 18-19, with the finals being played on Aug. 19.

The USA Baseball Women's National, managed this year by Ruben Felix, has participated in the IABF World Cup since its inception in 2004. The World Cup is played every two years.
