The Golden Hurricane have added another player for the 2002 season. Tracey Kelley has signed a national letter of intent with TU for the fall of 2001, announced Tulsa head coach James Pinkerton.

Playing for Butler County Community College last season, Kelly earned second team all-conference honors as well as second team All-Region VI honors. The catcher from Wichita, Kan., hit at a .392 clip for the Grizzlies with 71 hits in 181 at-bats. She recorded 10 doubles and a triple while batting in 32 runs. She also scored 55 runs herself. The sophomore only allowed four passed balls last spring while helping lead her squad to a runner-up finish in the Jayhawk-West Conference.

"Tracey makes our sixth signee during the early period," said Pinkerton. "She will certainly help fill the void that we have graduating off this year's squad. Having played at the junior college level, Tracey will also be able to step in with immediate leadership, having a couple of years softball maturity over some of our younger players."

The Hurricane were 20-32 last season, the second consecutive year for TU to win at least 20 games. Tulsa will begin the 2001 season at the UTA-Isuzu Classic in Grand Prairie, Texas on Feb. 9.
