TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa softball will play 17 games against teams that reached the 2012 NCAA Tournament, including four teams that reached the Super Regional, as part of its 2013 schedule, released by Head Coach John Bargfeldt.

The Golden Hurricane finished the 2012 season with a 42-14 record and a 19-5 mark in Conference USA, winning its second straight C-USA regular season championship, and taking home the team title. TU played in the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in school history.

Tulsa will serve as host of the 2013 Conference USA Championship, May 9-11, at the Collins Family Softball Complex. It will be the second time TU has played host to the C-USA Tournament.

TU will play 11 schools that reached the NCAA Tournament in 2012, totaling 17 games - LSU, North Carolina, Florida State, Hofstra, Arkansas, Texas, Texas Tech, UCF, Louisiana-Lafayette, UAB and Houston. LSU, Hofstra, Texas and ULL all advanced to the Super Regional, while LSU competed in the Women's College World Series.

"When you start signing up for tournaments, it's totally out of your control how that tournament is going to shape up. One of the things that really caught our attention is the number of quality teams that we are going to be facing very early in the season," Tulsa Head Coach John Bargfeldt said. "My view is that, when we play that type of competition, it readies us for the best that Conference USA has to offer. I feel like that is very important, in getting our team ready for conference play. It's always a huge goal of ours to compete for conference championships, and we feel like playing tough competition can only help to do that. It's a challenge for our team to be ready right from the start of the season. In my seven years, this is, if not the toughest, it is certainly one of the toughest schedules that we've put together."

The Golden Hurricane opens the season at the Tiger Classic, Feb. 8-10, where it will face Hampton, North Carolina, Purdue, and the host LSU. On Feb. 15-17, TU travels to Tallahassee, Fla., for the Unconquered Invitational, where it will play Hofstra, Arkansas and the host Florida State.

Tulsa plays in the Texas Invitational, Feb. 22-24, against Utah State, Lamar, and Texas. The Hurricane closes out the pre-conference tournament schedule at the UT Arlington Tournament, March 1-3, where it will play Lamar, Creighton and the host UTA.

In its final pre-conference tune-up, TU plays host to in-state rival Oklahoma State on March 6. Tulsa will return the trip to Stillwater on April 24. In the midweek, the Golden Hurricane also plays host to Indiana State on March 14, Wichita State on April 2, Louisiana-Lafayette on April 4, and Missouri State on May 1, and travels to Central Arkansas on March 27.

Tulsa opens its Conference USA schedule with a three-game series at home against Marshall March 9-10. The Hurricane travels to Memphis for a C-USA series March 16-17.

During its C-USA bye week, the Golden Hurricane will travel to the Rebel Classic in Las Vegas, March 22-24, where it will play Texas Tech, Boise State and the host UNLV.

Tulsa continues its C-USA schedule with a home series against UCF, March 29-30, travels to East Carolina April 6-7, plays host to UAB April 13-14, and travels for two straight weekends, playing at Houston April 20-21, and UTEP April 27-28. TU closes out the regular season with a series against Southern Miss May 4-5, before the C-USA Tournament comes to town.

The NCAA Regionals will be played May 16-19, and the NCAA Super Regionals take place May 24-26 at school sites. The Women's College World Series takes place May 30-June 5 at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.
