NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The No. 22-ranked University of Tulsa women's tennis team competed in Day Two of the Bulldog Invitational Saturday at Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.

TU posted a 3-5 mark in singles against No. 61 Purdue, and the Golden Hurricane was 2-2 in doubles play against Auburn.

Senior Anastasia Erofeeva, ranked No. 78 in the nation, stayed atop the singles leaderboard (explanation of tournament rules and current standings below) with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory over Purdue's Jennifer Rabot.

Sophomore Samantha Vickers, ranked No. 63, defeated Lynda Xepoleas 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. Freshman Mandy van den Eerembeemt won her first-collegiate singles match with a 6-1, 2-6, 6-1 decision over Kirsten Magi.

Senior Ewa Szatkowska was defeated by Mara Schmidt 7-6, 6-2, and fellow senior Caroline Beaulieu was defeated by Gisella Pere 6-4, 6-0.

Junior Michelle Farley lost 6-3, 6-2 to Daniela Vidal, and sophomore Maria Sant'Anna lost 6-1, 6-2 to Imosen Golder. Freshman Isaura Enrique lost a 6-0, 6-4 decision to Anna Dushkina.

The doubles team of Erofeeva and Szatkowska won their doubles match 8-6 over Auburn's Jennifer Pfeifler and Jackie Kasler. Senior Bonny Davidson and Vickers dropped Emily Flickinger and Olivia Bennett 8-4.

Farley and Enrique lost 9-8 to Paulina Schippers and Plamena Kurteva, and Beaulieu and Sant'Anna were defeated 8-4 by Lauren Levant and Taylor Cohen.



The Golden Hurricane will finish play in the tournament Jan. 22 in New Haven, Conn.

Each team will play three rounds of doubles and three rounds of singles. There will be eight flights in singles and four flights in doubles. Each day will consist of eight doubles matches and 16 singles matches. The third set will be played to completion in singles. Points will be allotted for each win based on the following decreasing point value to determine the champion (singles and doubles) at the end of the weekend.
