ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The University of Tulsa women's tennis team bounced back after its first loss of the season by defeating No. 54 Virginia Tech 4-2 at the ITA Kick-off Weekend on Sunday in Ann Arbor, Mich., at the Varsity Tennis Center.

No. 28 Golden Hurricane (3-1) won the doubles point for the fourth time this season after wins from Renata Kuricova/Yelena Nemchen's 7-5 win over Tea Ivanovic/Sansitha Nandakumar at the No. 3 doubles position followed by Rongrong Leenabanchong/Maria Sant'Anna's 7-5 win over Francesca Fusinato/Ilinca Stoica at the No. 2 doubles position.

Sant'Anna's 6-3, 6-1 win at the No. 4 singles position over Raluca Mita gave TU a 2-0 lead, but No. 54 Virginia Tech got on the board after a win at the No. 5 singles position.

Marcelina Cichon gave TU a 3-1 lead after defeating Nandakumar 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 6 singles position, but the Hokies responded by winning at the No. 2 position.

The Golden Hurricane finished the match by winning the fourth point from Samantha Vickers' 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10) win at the No. 1 singles position over Stoica.

The Golden Hurricane continues on the road with a match against Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla., at 6 p.m. on Friday.
