Senior, Sophomore Finish First, Second At Bulldog Invitational Jan. 22, 2012
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The No. 22-ranked University of Tulsa women's tennis team wrapped up play at the Bulldog Invitational Sunday at Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center. Tulsa posted a 3-3 mark against No. 30 Yale in singles action, and the Golden Hurricane split four doubles matches with No. 61 Purdue. Senior Anastasia Erofeeva won her third and final singles match to give her 24 points and the singles championship. She defeated Elizabeth Epstein 6-3, 6-1 Sunday. Sophomore Samantha Vickers won all three singles matches from the second position to take second place behind Erofeeva in the total singles standings. She defeated Blair Seideman Sunday 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6). Freshman Isaura Enrique defeated Amber Li 6-3, 6-1 from the fifth flight. Senior Ewa Szatkowska fell 6-4, 6-4 to Annie Sullivan, while senior Bonny Davidson lost 6-3, 7-5 to Sarah Guzick and junior Michelle Farley was defeated by Hanna Yu 6-4, 6-2. Erofeeva teamed with Szatkowska to post a 2-1 mark in doubles and take second place. They defeated Imogen Golder and Gisella Pere of Purdue 8-0 Sunday. Vickers teamed with senior Bonny Davidson and lost 8-0 to Jenny Rabot and Mara Schmidt. Sophomore Maria Sant'Anna and freshman Mandy van den Eerenbeemt defeated Anna Dushkina and Kirsten Magi 8-2. Next up for the Golden Hurricane will be the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The team travels to Knoxville, Tenn., for a 9 a.m. meeting Jan. 27 with No. 33 N.C. State.
