WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The University of Tulsa women's tennis team defeated Georgia State 5-2 at Schwartz Tennis Center on Saturday in West Lafayette, Ind.

No. 28 Golden Hurricane (5-1) won the doubles point for the fifth time this season. Maria Sant'Anna and Rongrong Leenabanchong won 6-2 at the No. 2 doubles position, but Georgia State (2-3) won at the No. 1 doubles 7-5. TU won the final doubles match to win the point as Marcelina Cichon and Renata Kuricova won 7-5.

Cichon's 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 6 singles position increased TU's lead to 2-0 and Kuricova's 6-0, 6-4 win at the No. 5 singles position gave TU a 3-0 lead.

The Panthers got on the board with a win at the No. 4 singles position, but TU scored the fourth point with a win from No. 46 Yelena Nemchen 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 3 singles position.

Isaura Enrique defeated Masa Grgan 6-3, 6-5 at the No. 2 singles position to give TU a 5-1 lead, but the Panthers won at the No. 1 singles position.

The Golden Hurricane faces host No. 30 Purdue on Sunday at 11 a.m., before returning home on Saturday, Feb. 15 to face SMU at 9 a.m. at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
