Senior Michelle Farley, junior Maria Sant’Anna and freshman Carol Benito all picked up singles victories, but the No. 23-ranked Tulsa women’s tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to No. 60 Kansas State Saturday at the Body First Tennis Center.

TU falls to 5-2 on the season, while the Wildcats improved to 3-0 on the season.

Junior Samantha Vickers and sophomore Isaura Enrique dropped their first doubles match of the spring campaign as they fell to Petra Niedermayerova and Karla Bonacic 8-3. The Wildcats clinched the doubles point as Ivana Kubickova and Carmen Ramos defeated Michelle Farley Saana Saarteinen 8-3. 

TU fell behind 2-0 as Enrique fell to Bonacic at No. 2 singles by the count of 7-6, 4-6, 6-2. In a rematch of the ITA Central Region Championship, Niedermayerova, ranked No. 15 in the country, defeated Vickers, ranked No. 124, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.

The Hurricane rallied as Farley, playing No. 3 singles, earned a come from behind win against Ivana Kubickova as the Tulsa senior won, 3-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4. Minutes later, Sant’Anna defeated Ana Gomez Aleman 7-6 (4), 6-4 at No. 4 singles to make it a 3-2 match.

The TU rally fell short as Carmen Borau defeated Saana Saartienen 7-6 (4), 6-2 to give KSU a 4-2 lead. Freshman Carol Benito claimed victory in her No. 6 singles match defeating Amina St. Hill 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (7).

The Golden Hurricane will face Kansas tomorrow morning in a 11 a.m. match in Lawrence, Kan.
