WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The University of Tulsa women's tennis team defeated No. 30 Purdue 5-2 on Sunday at Schwartz Tennis Center to extend its winning streak to four.

For only the second time this season, No. 28 Golden Hurricane (6-1) lost the doubles point to host No. 30 Purdue (3-2).

TU doubles team of Renata Kuricova and Marcelina Cichon won 6-0 at the No. 3 doubles position, but the Boilermakers tied it up after winning at the No. 2 singles position. With the score tied at the No. 1 singles position at six, Purdue won the tie-breaker point 7-5, to win at the No. 1 doubles position 7-6.

Kuricova got TU on the board with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Krisztina Kapitany at the No. 5 singles position to tie the match at one and No. 47 Samantha Vickers' 6-0, 6-4 win over No. 110 Mara Schmidt at the No. 1 singles position gave the Golden Hurricane a 2-1 lead.

Cichon increased TU's lead to 3-1 after a 7-6, 6-3 win over Andjela Djokovic at the No. 6 singles position, but Purdue cut the Hurricane's lead to 3-2 after a win at the No. 4 singles position.

No. 46 Yelena Nemchen recorded the fourth point for the Golden Hurricane with a 6-4, 7-6 win at the No. 3 singles position, while Isaura Enrique finished the match with a 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (7) win at the No. 2 singles position for a 5-2 Hurricane win.

The Golden Hurricane returns home for a three-match homestand starting with SMU on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 9 a.m. at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, where TU has a 47-match winning streak.
