TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa women's tennis team extended its winning streak to five after defeating SMU 7-0 on Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

I'm very happy with how the ladies stepped up against a very talented SMU squad," head coach Dean Orford said. "Across the board, it was a very solid performance."

For the sixth time this season, No. 26 Golden Hurricane (7-1) won the doubles point over No. 75 SMU (1-4). Sophomore Renata Kuricova and freshman Marcelina Cichon won at the No. 3 doubles position by a default and senior Samantha Vickers and junior Isaura Enrique won 8-1 at the No. 1 doubles position to clinch the point.

Vickers' doubles win was her 79 career doubles win, tying her for the sixth most doubles wins in school history.

Cichon won her match by a default at the No. 6 singles position to give TU a 2-0 lead. Cichon extends her winning streak to 11 matches and is 8-0 this season in team competition.

Enrique's 6-2, 6-0 win at the No. 2 singles position gave TU a 3-0 lead and No. 94 Yelena Nemchen's 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 3 singles position clinched the match for TU for a 4-0 lead.

Vickers gave the Golden Hurricane a 5-0 lead after she won 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 1 singles position to give her 102 career singles wins.

Kuricova extended the Golden Hurricane's lead to 6-0 after winning 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 5 singles position to extend her winning streak to nine and is 5-0 in team competition this season.

Senior Maria Sant'Anna finished the match with a 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 4 singles position.

The Golden Hurricane concludes its three-match homestand against North Texas on Friday, Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. and Kansas State on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 10 a.m.
