Tulsa Women's Tennis Team Falls Short Against #15 Tulane

New Orleans, La. - After winning the doubles point, the #61-ranked TU women's tennis team could not post three wins in the singles matches to upset #15 Tulane, at the Goldring Tennis Center in New Orleans, La. Tulane won the duel match 4-3.
Despite wins two wins in singles competitions by Daniela Muscolino and Carla Zabaleta, the Golden Hurricane could not capitalize on two three-set matches to upset Tulane. Junior Daniela Muscolino ranked #54, defeated #112 Maria Ivanov, 6-3, 6-4. Freshman Carla Zabaleta posted a 6-4, 6-4 win over #64-ranked Darya Ivanov. Both Santie Delport and Agostina Santoro lost the three-setters. Delport lost to Ana Saaibi, 7-6, 3-6, 4-6, while Gracie Glassmeyer defeated Santoro, 2-6, 7-6, 6-4.
TU won the doubles point, by winning two of the three matches. Muscolino and Zabaleta, ranked No. 54, pulled off the minor upset by defeating #49-ranked Ivanov and Ivanov, 8-3. Kindsay Grimes and Timberly Greenly defeated Saaibi and Alexis Coulourides, 8-2.
The Golden Hurricane women's tennis team returns home to play Rice and TCU, February 26 and 27, respectively. Both matches are at 12 noon, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. TU is now 5-5 on the season.
