HOUSTON, Texas - The University of Tulsa women's tennis team fell to host No. 30 Houston 4-3 on Sunday after having a 2-0 lead at John E. Hoff Tennis Courts.

No. 17 Golden Hurricane (9-2) won the doubles point for the ninth time this season after sophomore Renata Kuricova and freshman Marcelina Cichon's 8-1 win at the No. 3 doubles position and with senior Samantha Vickers and Isaura Enrique's 8-3 win at the No. 1 doubles position.

No. 109 Yelena Nemchen won in straight sets, 7-6, 6-1 at the No. 3 singles position to give TU a 2-0 lead.

No. 30 Houston (8-2) won at the No. 1 singles position and at the No. 5 singles position to tie the match at two. The Cougars took its first lead after winning at the No. 4 singles position, but Tulsa tied the match at three after Cichon's 6-4, 5-7, 6-1 win at the No. 6 singles position.

With Cichon's singles win, she has won her last 14 matches and is 11-0 in team competition this season and has posted a 22-3 record.

Houston won the final match at the No. 2 singles position to give the Cougars the 4-3 win.

The Golden Hurricane stays in Houston to face No. 21 Rice (5-4) on Sunday at noon and then returns home to face Kansas on Saturday, March 8 at noon at the Michael D. Case Tennis, where TU holds a 50-match home winning streak.
