Wichita, Kan. - The University of Tulsa's women's tennis team fell in its first road match of the season to the 47th-ranked Wichita State Shockers 4-3, Sunday afternoon at the Coleman Tennis Complex in Wichita, Kan. The dual lasted more than for four hours with five of the six singles matches going to three sets.

The Golden Hurricane split the singles competition, winning at positions No. 1, 5 and 6. Freshman Alexandra Kichoutkin moved to her record to 12-2 on the season after defeating Anna Egorova in three sets, 6-4, 6-7 (7-10), 6-1. At position No. 5, sophomore Marta Marcinkowska, 7-1, beat Torrie Browning in another three-set battle, 6-7 (7-10), 6-2, 6-2. Tulsa's final victory came from senior Agostina Santoro dispatched Laryssa Ferreira in yet another three-set contest, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. Two of TU's loses came in lengthily three-sets, Thalia Diaz-Barriga falling to Stephanie Dalmacio, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 at position No. 2 and Carla Zabaleta dropping to 3. Florentina Hanisch, 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 at position No. 3. In the only match not to go three-sets, Rebecca Row lost to Lenore Lazaroiu, 7-6 (10-5), 6-2.

The day after sweeping MTSU in the doubles portion, the Hurricane got swept by Wichita State. TU's No. 1 pair of Row/Zabaleta fell to Dalmacio/Ferreira, 8-6. At the No. 2 doubles position, Egorova/Lazaroiu defeated Diaz-Barriga/Marcinkowska, 8-4 In the last doubles match, which went to tiebreaker, the duo of Jie Zeng/Kichoutkin were downed by Browning/Hanisch, 8-7 (9-7).

The Golden Hurricane will next be in action against the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday, March 8 at noon in Norman, Okla.
