Tulsa Women's Tennis Falls to the No. 44 Florida International 5-2

The 48th-ranked Golden Hurricane fall to 13-5 on the season

Miami, Fla. - The University of Tulsa's women's tennis team lost to the No. 44-ranked Florida International University Golden Panthers 5-2 on Saturday morning. The No. 48 Golden Hurricane fell to 13-5 on the season with the loss.

Tulsa picked up its only wins from Alexandra Kichoutkin at the No. 1 position and Rebecca Row at the No. 4 position. Kichoutkin, 16-2, defeated No. 91 Liset Brito, 6-3, 0-6, 6-4. Row moves to 10-6 on the season with her win over Maria Dolores Pazo, 2-6, 7-5, 6-4. Thalia Diaz-Barriga, Carla Zabaleta, Marta Marcinkowska and Agostina Santoro all tasted defeat for the Golden Hurricane. Diaz-Barriga fell to No. 112 Egle Petrauskaite, 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 2 position. At the No. 3 position, Zabaleta was defeated by Marijana Cutuk, 6-4, 6-3. Marcinkowska was dropped by Priscilla Castillo at the No. 5 position, 6-3, 6-3. Santoro fell to Maria Spenceley, 6-4, 6-4.

The Golden Hurricane lost the doubles point after falling at the No. 1 and 2 positions. The pair of Zabaleta/Row was defeated by Dolores Pazo/Castillo, 8-4, while the duo of Diaz-Barriga/Marcinkowska fell to Spenceley/Maria Vallasciani, 8-5. Tulsa won at the No. 3 position by default.

TU returns to the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Saturday, March 29 against the No. 58 South Alabama Jaguars at 10 a.m.
