TULSA, Okla. -

Senior Michelle Farley’s triumph on Court 3 clinched a 4-2 victory for the No. 26 Tulsa women’s tennis squad against No. 28 Memphis, Sunday, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Farley’s 6-3, 3-6, 6-0, win against UM’s Liza Tymchenko extended TU’s winning streak to eight and its home match winning streak to 45 matches.

The triumph for the Golden Hurricane (17-5) marked its second over the Tigers (16-5) this season as TU defeated Memphis, 4-3, during an ITA Kick-Off Weekend consolation match on Jan. 27.

Freshman Reanta Kuricova and junior Maria Sant’Anna dispatched 59th-ranked Caroline Wegner and Stefanie Mikesz, 8-3. After Memphis won on court two, all eyes turned to the top court where No. 18 Samantha Vickers and Isaura Enrique faced No. 65 Kelly Gray and Courtney Collins. After falling behind 3-1, the TU tandem stormed back to take an 8-4 win to give the Hurricane the doubles point.

Memphis evened the match at 1-1  after winning on Court 5, but Vickers, ranked No. 18 in singles play, defeated No. 44 Collins, 6-2, 6-3, to propel TU to a 2-1 lead. Vickers has won 15 straight singles matches.

The Tigers tied the match at two-all, but the Hurricane took the next two points to take the match. Saarteinen gave TU a 3-2 advantage with a 6-3, 6-3, win over Skylar Kuykendall.

Farley proceeded to clinch the match for the Golden Hurricane on her Senior Day.

Tulsa will now turn its attention to the 2013 Conference USA Women’s Tennis Championship in Houston, Texas, April 18-21.
