Tulsa Women's Tennis Team Dominates Day Two at U.S. Air Force Academy Invitational

Denver, Colo. - The University of Tulsa women's tennis team won two singles flights and one doubles flight on the final day of competition Saturday at the U.S. Air Force Academy Invitational. Anastasia Erofeeva won the "Blue Singles" title and Yulia Gavenko captured the "White Singles" crown. Gavenko also teamed up with Jie Zeng for the "Blue Doubles" championship.
The Hurricane finished the two-day tournament with a 35-11 overall record.
Erofeeva defeated Air Force's Tahlia Smoke, 6-2, 7-5, in the "Blue Singles" semifinals to advance to the finals where she knocked off teammate Rebecca Row, 6-4, 6-4, for the flight championship. Row won her semifinals match against Meghan Kiser of Air Force before losing to Erofeeva in the finals.
Gavenko also defeated a fellow teammate for the "White Singles" flight title when she beat Ewa Szatkowska, 6-3, 6-3, in the championship match. Gavenko also picked up a "Blue Doubles" championship with Jie Zeng defeating teammates Alexandra Kichoutkin and Anastasia Erofeeva, 8-2.
In "Falcon Singles" Alexandra Kichoutkin claimed second place after falling to Colorado's Monica Milewski, 6-3, 6-4, in the finals. Thalia Diaz-Barriga won the "Falcon Singles" consolation crown after defeating Rebecca Berger of Wyoming, 6-3, 2-6, 10-7.
Marta Marcinkowska finished second in "Silver Singles" after losing to Colorado's Franziska Jendrian, 6-2, 6-4, in the finals.
The Hurricane wraps up the fall season when they head to the ITA Regional Championships Oct. 15-18 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
