FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Tulsa women's tennis team won four matches at the Arkansas Invite on Friday.

Saana Saarteinen, playing in the U.S. Open Flight, defeated Alyssa Hibberd of Memphis 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 in the first round and plays Reka Muller of Arkansas in the semifinal on Saturday. Renata Kuricova, playing in the U.S. Open Flight, fell to Shannon Hudson of Arkansas 7-5, 7-5 in the first round.

Maria Sant'Anna and Dobby Leenabanchong picked up wins in the Wimbledon Flight. Sant'Anna defeated Anki Wind of Memphis 6-4, 6-4 in the first round and plays Brittany Huxley of Arkansas in the semifinal on Saturday. Leenabanchong defeated Flavia Araujo of Arkansas 6-3, 6-1 in the first round and plays Tatiana Larina of Northwestern State in the semifinal on Saturday.

Carol Benito received a first round bye in the French Open Flight and plays Daniela Simonova of Northwestern State in the semifinal on Saturday.

The doubles team of Saarteinen and Kuricova defeated Northwestern State's doubles team of Polina Konop and Titiana Larina 8-3 in the first round and plays Shannon Hudson and Brittany Huxley of Arkansas in the quarterfinal on Saturday.

The doubles team of Sant'Anna and Leenabanchong received a first round bye in the Australian Open Flight and plays Alyssa Hibberd and Carolina Wegner of Memphis in the quarterfinals on Saturday. The TU dual defeated Hudson and Huxley of Arkansas 8-5 in an optional match.

Samantha Vickers and Isuara Enrique won 8-6 over Colton-Mira of Vanderbilt in the first consolation doubles at the Riviera/ITA All-American. The TU dual faces Kate Fuller and Silvia Garcia of Georgia, who is ranked the No. 1 doubles in the consolation bracket.

 

 

Vickers defeated the No. 1 seed in the consolation main draw singles 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 to Clemson's Yana Koroleva in the round of 16, but fell to UCLA's Chanelle Van Nguyen in the quarterfinal 6-2, 6-1.
