Strong Singles Play Leads Tulsa At Second Day Of Razorback Classic

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -
After finishing doubles play yesterday with a 4-0 record, the Tulsa women's tennis team won six of its seven singles matches during the second day of the Razorback Classic at the Billingsley Tennis Center on Saturday, October 6.
Junior Michelle Farley and Saana Saarteinen teamed up in doubles play to defeat Ana Belmar Hernandez and Sarah McLean of Arkansas, 8-5. Isaura Enrique and Samantha Vickers defeated the Razorback's duo of Yang Pang and Kimberly-Ann Surin, 8-5.
Farley defeated Surin 6-3, 6-1, to claim one of Tulsa's six victories in singles play. Four of the Golden Hurricane freshmen picked up victories as Saanteinen, Carol Benito, Maria Rivera Perez, Renata Kuricova all won their matches, while Maria Sant'Ann defeated Conference USA foe Leselot Koenen of Houston 6-2, 6-0.
"Our ladies had a solid showing today, particularly in singles play," Head Coach Dean Orford said. "Michelle Farley has shown a lot of improvement during the tournament and has advanced to the finals in both singles and doubles. I was also pleased to see the improvements of all four freshmen as they went undefeated in singles play."
The Golden Hurricane will wrap up play at the Razorback Classic tomorrow. First serve is set for 9 a.m.
