Vickers and Enrique Ranked Ninth Nationally In ITA Rankings
Jan. 3, 2013
Tulsa, Okla. - Junior Samantha Vickers and sophomore Isaura Enrique earned the highest doubles ranking in school history by pulling in a ninth-place ranking in the first Intercollegiate Tennis Association Rankings of the 2013 campaign, the organization announced today. Vickers and Enrique won the 2011 USTA/ITA Central Region Championship at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center and advanced to the quarterfinals of the National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship. As a team, Tulsa's team ranking of 25 is the schools best ranking to begin a spring season. "It's good to be recognized as a top-25 team once again this year," commented Head Coach Dean Orford. "I'm very excited about Vickers and Enrique breaking into the top-10 in the nation. They have made tremendous strides, and are now one of the premier teams in the nation, deservedly so." Vickers was ranked 125th nationally in singles and fifth in the Central region. Enrique and senior Michelle Farley were ranked 12th and 13th, respectively, in the region. In doubles, Vickers and Enrique earned the top spot in the Central while Farley and freshman Saana Saarteinen claimed the eighth spot.
