TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa women's tennis team opens its team competition of the 2014 spring schedule with two matches on Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

The Golden Hurricane, ranked No. 29 in the International Tennis Association poll, faces BYU at 9:30 a.m. followed by cross-town rival Oral Roberts at 4 p.m.

Entering his ninth season as the head coach of Tulsa, Dean Orford has not faced BYU and is 14-0 against Oral Roberts.

The Golden Hurricane is coming off last weekend with an individual competition at the Hurricane Invite at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. The Hurricane posted a 26-2 record in singles and a 10-1 record in doubles.

Senior Samantha Vickers, ranked No. 48, enters this weekend on a seven-match winning streak as she went 2-0 at the Hurricane Invite and won the blue singles draw. Vickers paired with Isaura Enrique to go 3-0 during the tournament to win the blue doubles draw. Vickers need two doubles wins to enter seventh in school history.

Yelena Nemchen enters the weekend ranked No. 47 and has posted an 8-2 record in her first collegiate season. Nemchen went 3-0 during the Hurricane Invite and won the brown singles draw.

Sophomore Renata Kuricova and freshman Marcelina Cichon has recorded a combined 24-7 record during the fall season, including the Hurricane Invite, where both players went 3-0. Kuricova has posted a 13-4 record and has won the last four matches, while Cichon has posted an 11-3 record and has won seven of her last eight matches.

Rongrong Leenabanchong has posted a 14-4 record during the fall season, including a 2-1 record at the Hurricane Invite. Leenabanchong has won seven of her last eight matches.

The Golden Hurricane continues its season on the road in Ann Arbor, Mich., for the ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Hurricane faces Yale at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, followed by either Michigan or Virginia Tech on Sunday, Jan. 26.
