IRVING, Texas -

Sophomore Isaura Enrique named Conference USA Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the league announced today.

This marks the first time that Enrique has won the award during her career with the Golden Hurricane.

Enrique clinched TU's 4-3 victory over No. 16 Notre Dame Saturday with a come-from-behind win at No. 2 singles. After dropping the first set 4-6, Enrique battled Jennifer Kellner to force a tie break in the second set. With the match tied at 3-3, Enrique trailed Kellner 6-3 in the tiebreak, but rattled off the next five points to take the set and force a deciding third set. In the final frame, the sophomore jumped out to a 5-0 lead and never looked back as she ultimately defeated Kellner 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-1. Enrique, playing with Samantha Vickers, also earned an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles over Chrissie McGaffigan and Kellner. T

"Isaura had a tremendous weekend, in both singles and doubles play," commented Head Coach Dean Orford. "It was especially sweet as she played a great third set with the match in the balance. She rose to the challenge, and she handled the pressure. I was happy to see her be able to handle pressure as we get closer to postseason play."

Tulsa, ranked No. 24 in this week's ITA Rankings, will host two home tilts this weekend. TU will host Louisville on Friday, April 5 in a 4 p.m. match before Conference USA foe Houston rolls into town for an 11 a.m. match on Sunday, April 7.
