Women's Tennis Moves Up a Spot; Nemchen Returns to the Rankings in ITA Poll

SKILLMAN, N.J. - The University of Tulsa women's tennis team moved up a spot in the International Tennis Association poll released on Tuesday from No. 20 to No. 19, while freshman Yelena Nemchen moved from unranked to No. 116.
The Golden Hurricane (15-4) is coming off a 5-2 win over No. 38 Memphis on Saturday and is riding a three-match winning streak with each win over a top-50 team.
Nemchen has posted a 16-5 record this season, including an 8-4 record in dual competition. The Karaganda, Kazakhstan native has posted an 8-2 record at the No. 3 singles position and has been ranked in five polls of seven this spring season.
The No. 1-seed Golden Hurricane travels to Norfolk, Va., for the Conference USA Championships from Wednesday, April 16 until Sunday, April 20. Tulsa received a double-bye into the quarterfinals and faces the winner of USTA-Middle Tennessee/Florida Atlantic on Friday at 1 p.m.
