April 29, 2014
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - No. 21 University of Tulsa women's tennis team travels to Stanford, Calif., to face No. 55 Long Beach State University in the first round of the NCAA Championship, announced by the NCAA on Tuesday.
"We haven't seen any of those teams," TU head coach Dean Orford said. "It's kind of nice to see some fresh faces and looking at Long Beach State, they've only lost two matches. So, obviously they are used to winning this year. It will be an interesting match and we will be looking for it."
The Golden Hurricane (17-5) received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament after losing in the championship match of the Conference USA Championships to No. 29 Rice 4-2, while Long Beach State (20-2) received an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament by winning the Big West Tournament.
The host school of No. 9 Stanford faces Quinnipac in the other first round matchup in Stanford.
