Tulsa, Oklahoma - A total of eight University of Tulsa men's and women's tennis players have been named to the 2001 Western Athletic Conference Singles and Doubles Teams following a vote by the league's head coaches.

The Tulsa women's completed the regular season with a 14-9 overall mark, while the men's squad finished with a 12-14 record for the 2000-2001 campaign. Both Hurricane teams will now wait until Thursday, May 3, when the NCAA tournament announces its men's and women's field of 64 teams, respectively.

Led by senior Jennifer DeSpain's third straight appearance on the all-WAC doubles first team, a total of five TU women's players received all-conference merits. DeSpain and doubles teammate, junior Jana Sedivec, were tabbed to the all-WAC first team. The TU tandem recorded a 24-12 overall mark at the No. 1 position this season and was ranked as high as 17th nationally. Sedivec was a repeat performer to the all-WAC doubles team.

DeSpain, TU's all-time leader for career singles wins, was also one of three players to receive second-team all-conference singles honors. Sophomore Aleksandra Durska and junior Bianca Posada were also named to the all-WAC second team.

DeSpain completed the regular season second on the team in singles wins with a 25-10 mark. Her 25 victories tied her career-high for the most wins in a single season. She is a first time selection to the all-WAC singles team. A two-time selection, Durska led Tulsa in singles victories for the second straight season with a 29-10 record. In just under two seasons, Durska's 57 career singles victories ranks fifth all-time among TU's career leaders. Posada played at the top singles spot for the Hurricane this season and tallied a 14-19 mark. Posada's selection was her first to the all-WAC singles team.

Tulsa's No. 2 doubles combination of Durska and sophomore Marjolein van Dongen was tabbed to the all-WAC second team in doubles. Durska and van Dongen produced a 17-6 overall record and a 17-5 dual mark during the spring season. Both players are first-time selections to the all-WAC doubles teams.

On the men's side, three players received postseason honors, including juniors Dane McGregor, Pawel Sebastyanski and Shriranga Sudhakara. McGregor and Sebastyanski were each named to the all-WAC singles first team. McGregor completed the regular season second on the team in singles victories with a 23-9 record and was ranked as high as No. 39 nationally in singles. Sebastyanski held down the top singles position this season and posted a 21-17 mark. McGregor was a repeat performer on the league's singles team, while Sebastyanski made his first appearance in 2001.

Tulsa's top doubles tandem of McGregor and Sudhakara was selected to the all-WAC doubles second team. The duo recorded a 16-12 mark at the No. 1 slot in the doubles lineup and ranked as high as 27th in the nation this season. Both players are first-time selections on the all-conference doubles team.
