TU Women's Tennis Team Captures 5-4 upset over #24 TCU
Tulsa, Oklahoma - The 37th-ranked Tulsa women's tennis team won back-to-back matches this past weekend over Western Athletic Conference rivals TCU and SMU. TU pulled off the biggest upset this season with a 5-4 victory over the 24th-ranked Horned Frogs and claimed a 5-4 win over the 68th-ranked Mustangs to extend its consecutive win streak to seven matches. At the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth, Tulsa won four of the six singles matches and captured wins over both of TCU's nationally-ranked singles players. The Horned Frogs tied the match by winning the top two doubles matches, but Tulsa won the bottom doubles contest to prevail, 5-4. Sophomore Bianca Posada, playing the top singles position, won a three-set match against 44th-ranked Dorrit Huppes, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, while freshman Aleksandra Durska topped 75th-ranked Lucie Dvorakova, 6-4, 6-1, to claim her first win over a nationally-ranked opponent. TCU's second-ranked doubles team of Dvorakova and Daria Zoldakova defeated TU's top doubles duo of junior Jennifer DeSpain and sophomore Jana Sedivec, 8-4.
