TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa women's tennis team finished the 2013 fall schedule on a strong note as the Golden Hurricane won 16 singles matches and seven doubles matches in the final tournament at the Memphis Collegiate Invite.

Senior Samantha Vickers, ranked No. 15 in the International Tennis Association preseason poll, and freshman Rongrong Leenabanchong both went 3-0 and won their draw, while TU doubles team of Maria Sant'Anna and Saana Saarteinen won the doubles draw.



In the Golden Hurricane's first tournament of the season, TU won nine singles matches and two doubles matches at the Midland Invitational. Vickers, seeded No. 1 in the tournament, won three singles matches, but fell in the semifinals.

The Hurricane won 30 singles matches in the ITA All-American and the USTA/ITA Central Region as Yelena Nemchen went 4-1 and fell in the semifinals of the USTA/ITA Central Region and Leenabanchong won five singles matches and fell in the round of 16.

TU won four singles matches at the USTA Collegiate Clay Courts and one doubles match.

Overall, the Golden Hurricane won 70 singles matches and 25 doubles during the fall season.

The Hurricane starts the spring schedule on Jan. 10-12 with the Hurricane Invite at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
