IRVNG, Texas - Senior women's tennis player Samantha Vickers was named Conference USA Co-Women's Tennis Athlete of the Month for November, announced by the league Wednesday morning.

Vickers, ranked No. 15 in the ITA preseason poll, record a 3-0 record to win the Blue Draw of the Memphis Collegiate Invite from Nov. 1-3. Vickers defeated Kayla Jones of Chattanooga 6-4, 6-1, Ana Pimineta of Marquette 6-2, 6-4 and Skylar Kuykendall of Memphis 6-0, 6-7 (2), 6-2.

Vickers teamed up with junior Isaura Enrique and recorded a 2-1 record and finished third place in the doubles Blue Draw at the Memphis Collegiate Invite.

Vickers and Enrique defeated Stefanie Mikesz and Anki Wind of Memphis 8-6, but fell to Liza Tymchenko and Skylar Kuykendall of Memphis in the semifinals 8-6. The duo defeated Pimienta and Erin Gebes of Marquette 8-5 for the third place finish.

The Lincolnshire, England native finished the season on a five-match singles winning streak and finished the fall season with a 9-4 record, including defeating No. 49 Dominique Harmath of Rice 6-3, 6-1 at the Midland Invitational and No. 7 Yana Koroleva of Clemson 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 in the ITA All-American Tournament.

Vickers currently ranks fifth in school history with 94 singles wins and eighth in school history with 72 doubles wins.

This is Vickers second player of the month as won the monthly award in Oct. 2012.

The Golden Hurricane starts the spring schedule on Jan. 10-12 with the Hurricane Invite at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
