California Head Coach Amanda Augustus
On the match...
"I think for our team today, we knew it was going to be a really tough fight against Duke. We are close in the rankings, and have had similar records this year. We have seen some of their players at other various national tournaments we have been at. Although we didn't know quite what to expect, we knew it would be a battle. I'm really happy that even after missing out on the doubles point, we were able to fight through and win 4 out of 6 singles matches.

California Player Susie Babos
About the match today...
"I had never really played her before and at this point in the season every match is going to be tough, so that's what I was really expecting, I was really happy that I was the last one to be able to cling to that, being a senior at the NCAA's. Having that situation was really amazing and I'm happy I could experience it."

Feelings about how they were down...
"I actually didn't know we were 3-1 down until the very end of the second set. I was really surprised when she showed up at my court at 4-1. Looking around hearing all the girls cheering off court, it did not feel like we were down, it felt like we were in a position to win the whole thing.

Duke Head Coach Jamie Ashworth
A tough battle between two teams...
"Cal is good. It's the first time all year that we lost four singles matches against anybody. I think we were 16 or 17 and 0 when winning the doubles points. I knew that going into the singles matches. I think they just played better than us. I thought that with the momentum from winning the doubles point, that we could get off to a good sart in singles but we didn't."

Do you think that the players relaxed after winning the doubles point...
"No, not at all. There's a good group of seniors on that Cal team. It think there's 3 seniors in their top six. I think Cal did a great job of putting the doubles point behind them. I think we came out and were in the mode of that they're going to miss and give up free points. We didn't do a good job of taking care of opportunities. I thought we kind of sat back and hoped they would make an error instead of going after it and grabbing what was there in front of us."

California improved to 18-5 for the season . . . the Bears advance to the quarterfinal round for the second straight season . . . it is the second straight year that Cal has defeated an ACC team in the round of 16, and this year is now 2-1 against ACC teams . . . Duke closed out the season with a 20-5 record . . . four of those five losses have come against teams in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.
