Assistant Volleyball Coach

Liz Guard begins her first season as a member of The University of Tulsa coaching staff.

Guard comes to TU after completing a highly successful playing career at Eastern Kentucky. A native of Willoughby, Ohio, Guard earned all-Ohio Valley Conference honors for the third time in her career in 2005. She was twice named OVC Offensive Player of the Week andearned MVP honors in all three tournaments the Colonels won during her senior season.

She helped the Colonels to a 23-7 overall record as a senior. During her junior season EKU posted a 27-5 record while winning the OVC with a 15-1 record. The Colonels posted a 29-3 conference record and won two conference regular season championships during Guard's final two seasons.

As a senior, Guard posted double-figure kills in 23 of her 28 matches. The middle blocker finished second in the OVC for hitting percentage (.341) and kills per game (4.18) in 2005. She also finished third in the league for blocks per game (1.15), while helping EKU win back-to-back conference championships.

In addition to her playing career, Guard has also served as a head counselor at the Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School volleyball camp in Ohio and also served as a camp counselor at EKU Volleyball Clinics.

Guard graduated in 2006 with a bachelor of arts degree from EKU in public relations.
