Former four-year letterwinner Tammy Leuer has rejoined the Golden Hurricane volleyball team as an assistant coach. The 2005 season will be Leuer's first as a member of the Hurricane staff.
The Corcoran, Minn., native played for the Golden Hurricane from 1999-2002 as an outside hitter. Leuer was a three-year starter for the Golden Hurricane, earning All-WAC Academic honors in all four of her seasons, and served as a captain for the Golden Hurricane during her senior season. She recorded 574 career kills and 917 digs. She still ranks fifth in the Golden Hurricane record books for career digs. Leuer also ranks second in the record books for games played with 357 and matches played with 113.
Last season, Leuer served as an assistant coach at Minnesota State-Mankato. In addition to assisting in practice planning, she also coordinated the recruiting efforts for the Mavericks. Leuer also served as the athletic department's insurance coordinator for MSU's 25 sports.
Prior to her stint at MSU-Mankato, Leuer was a registered nurse at the Helmerich Women's Center in Tulsa.
