Julia Silva is in her third season as a member of The University of Tulsa coaching staff. Silva made the transition from player to coach after being a three-year letterwinner for the Golden Hurricane from 2005-07. A three-time AVCA All-America Honorable Mention selection, Silva was also a two-time winner of Conference USA's Setter of the Year award. Silva set school records for assists in a season each of her three years in a Hurricane uniform, also becoming the first TU setter to reach 4,000 career assists with 4,206. She is also the first TU volleyball player to have her jersey (No. 14) retired.
Silva posted 68 double-doubles and 17 triple-doubles during her career for the Hurricane. She was named Conference USA Setter of the Week 14 times, including a record-setting six times during the 2007 campaign. Silva played in 366 games at TU, while starting all 101 of TU's matches during that span. She led TU to a 77-24 record during her playing career, while finishing as one of TU's winningest players.
Transferring to TU from Jefferson College in Hillsboro, Mo., Silva helped lead the Vikings to a 22-14 record and a regional runner-up finish as a freshman. She earned AVCA Second-Team All-American honors as well as NJCAA All-America honorable mention merits while at JeffCo, in addition to being an all-conference and all-region.
Silva graduated from The University of Tulsa in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in business marketing.
