Sophomore Jessica Mollman had 12 kills and senior Caroline Frens recorded 13 digs to lead Austin Peay to a 3-0 win (25-19, 25-17, 25-16) over Long Island in the first match of the Tulsa Invitational on Friday morning at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

Long Island sophomore Svetlana Simic led the Blackbirds with 14 kills and freshman Chelsey Stanton tallied at game-high 24 assists in the tournament-opening loss.

With the win Austin Peay improves to 7-2 on the season, while Long Island drops to 1-3 with the loss.

Austin Peay plays next at 4 p.m. today against Jackson State. Long Island will take on Sam Houston State at 2 p.m. today.
