Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa breezed through its first match of the Tulsa Invitational with a 3-0 win (25-14, 25-10, 25-16) over Jackson State on Friday afternoon at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

Freshman setter Rachel Vukson recorded a game-high 34 assists, and junior outside hitter Jennifer Eichler tallied nine kills and nine digs to lead the way for the Hurricane.

Tulsa hit .350 for the match while holding Jackson State to a .054 hitting percentage. The Golden Hurricane also served seven aces as a team, with three coming from Vukson.

"I thought our ball control was as good as it has been all year," said Head Coach Ed Allen. "It was nice to work on some things offensively and get Jennifer (Eichler) some good swings. I also thought Rachel Vukson did a good job of putting players in good position to make plays."

Freshman outside hitter Kelsey Hancock recorded nine kills at a .400 hitting percentage, and junior middle hitter Julia Kenealy spiked eight kills with a .583 percentage in the winning effort.

Latoya Clark led Jackson State with 20 assists, while Ebonee Dawson slammed a team-high seven kills.

Tulsa returns to action at 6 p.m. tonight against Sam Houston State.
