"Once again, we came out really playing well," Tulsa Head Coach Steven McRoberts. "We executed and probably caught Arkansas a little off their game. This was the second match this week that we've started off winning the first set, 25-14, and then turn around and lose the next three sets. Two of those being closely contested and third one not so closely contested. The thing about these tournaments is you don't have any time to feel sorry for yourself. You have to bounce back the next day. We're going to have two tough matches tomorrow against two really good teams. We're going to see how we can do that. Hopefully we come out with urgency and prepared to play four or five sets every match, and have that mentality and not get so down on ourselves when we start losing and start losing some of our momentum."

Tulsa (6-3) opened the match with five straight points. The Golden Hurricane forced a sideout on the opening serve on a kill by Culbertson, and the senior proceeded to serve TU to four more consecutive points. Arkansas (5-2) closed the gap to 7-6, and the Hurricane lead 13-12 before scoring 12 of the next 14 points to win the set, 25-14. TU hit .355 in the frame, led by El Houssine's five kills, and converted 73 percent of sideout opportunities, while the Razorbacks hit .029 as a team.

Arkansas came back to win the final three sets. In the second set, the Razorbacks tallied 16 kills and held Tulsa to .088 hitting in the second stanza to knot the match at one set apiece. The Hurricane again started with a mini run, scoring the first three points, but the Razorbacks came back to tie the score at four, and took its first lead at 6-5. Arkansas played ahead for the rest of the set and the score was tied 10 times, but never led by more than three points until the 25-21 final score.

Tulsa once again opened the third set with three consecutive points. The Golden Hurricane remained ahead or tied until Arkansas took its first lead of the set at 19-18. TU led 23-22 before Arkansas won the set, 26-24. The Hurricane hit .341 in the set, but Arkansas hit .372 with 21 kills.
