Volleyball Falls to Iowa 3-0 in Hawkeye-Holiday Inn Challenge

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The University of Tulsa volleyball team lost for the first time in 11 matches Saturday evening when it fell to Iowa 3-0 (12-25, 11-25, 21-25) at the Iowa Hawkeye-Holiday Inn Challenge at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
With the loss, TU falls to 13-2 on the season, while Iowa moves to 8-4. The loss snaps a 10-game winning streak, tied for the second-longest in Tulsa history. Senior outside hitter Beth Hodge and junior middle hitter Julia Kenealy were named to the all-tournament team.
The Golden Hurricane was led in kills by senior outside hitter Beth Hodge with 16 in hitting with a .556 effort and adding nine digs, while sophomore setter Jessie Ayers contributed 17 assists. As a team, Tulsa hit .087, with 25 kills and 17 assists, while Iowa hit a .386 attack percentage.
The Hurricane's next match is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 26 when it resumes Conference USA action and entertains Southern Miss at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. TU also plays Sunday, Sept. 28 at home against UCF.
