Houston, Texas- - The University of Tulsa defeated Rice for the sixth consecutive time on Friday night in Houston. The five-game match was the fourth straight time TU pulled out a win in a deciding game as the Hurricane won 3-2 (26-30, 30-23, 30-26, 20-30, 15-10). The victory improves TU's record to 24-7 overall with an 11-4 record during Conference USA play. Rice falls to 11-16 on the season, 6-9 in C-USA.

Senior Julia Silva recorded her eighth triple-double of the year with 11 kills, 52 assists and 21 digs in the match. Silva was one of three TU players with double-figures in kills. Fellow senior Fabiola Nepomuceno posted a match-high 21 kills, while freshman Emma Ridley recorded 14 kills.

Four Hurricane defenders posted double-figures in digs, as TU recorded the second most digs in a match this season with 101. The season-high is 103 also set against Rice earlier this season. Junior Malorey Grove led the Hurricane with 26 digs, in addition to Silva's 21. Junior Kelsey Wood added 17 digs with freshman Nicole Boyle contributing 15 more for the Hurricane.

Boyle also added four of TU's nine services aces on the match. Fellow freshman Hannah Stout added eight blocks for the Hurricane, while just missing a triple-double with nine digs and nine kills. Five Hurricane hitters also reached double-digits in points, led by Nepomuceno's 23.0 points. Stout's 15.0 points was the next best total, followed by Silva's and Ridley's 14 points. Junior Renee Brooks also finished with 10.5 points.

Tulsa will close out the regular season at Houston on Sunday in a matinee match with the Cougars at 1 p.m. The Hurricane is currently tied for third place with UAB and Memphis after Friday night's action. The top four teams in the league standings receive first-round byes at the C-USA Championships.
