SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Senior outside hitter Kellie Culbertson and freshman outside hitter Erica Bohannon recorded 10 kills each as the University of Tulsa volleyball team fell to UTSA 3-0 (11-25, 18-25, 21-25) on Sunday afternoon at the Convocation Center.

With the win, UTSA claimed the C-USA regular season title and receives a No. 1 seed in the C-USA Tournament in Murfreesboro, Tenn., that starts on Thursday.

The Golden Hurricane receives the No. 3 seed in the tournament and receives a bye in the first round. Tulsa faces the winner of Thursday's match between host Middle Tennessee State and FIU, on Friday at 5 p.m. in the quarterfinals.

Junior outside hitter Valerie El Houssine recorded a team-high 17 digs, while freshman libero Brooke Berryhill added nine digs.

Junior setter Bailey Clampitt recorded 18 assists and nine digs, while freshman setter Genesis Viera added nine assists.

The Golden Hurricane (23-6, 12-2 C-USA) had an early 3-2 lead in the first set, but UTSA (21-7, 13-1 C-USA) scored five straight points to take a 7-3 lead. The Hurricane scored two of the next three points to pull within three, 8-5, but the Roadrunners 17 of the final 22 points to take an early 1-0 lead. Bohannon led TU with four kills and had a .286 hitting percentage.

With the score tied at eight in the second frame, the Golden Hurricane scored four straight points for a 12-8 lead. UTSA scored the next three points to pull within a point, 12-11 and tied the match at 13. With the set tied at 14, the Roadrunners scored four straight points to take an 18-14 lead. UTSA outscored Tulsa 7-4 during the rest of the set to take a 2-0 match lead. Culbertson and Bohannon led TU with four kills each, while El Houssine recorded seven digs and Clampitt added seven assists.

UTSA had an early 6-4 lead in the third stanza, but the Golden Hurricane scored seven of the next eight points to take a four-point lead, 11-7. With the Hurricane leading 14-10, the Roadrunners scored seven of the next nine points to take a point lead 17-16. With the score tied at 19, UTSA scored six of the final eight points to win the match. El Houssine recorded seven digs, while Culbertson added four kills.

The Roadrunners were led by McKenzie Adams with 22 kills, Jessica Waldrip with 39 assists and Annie Kunes with 24 digs. Waldrip added 10 digs for a double-double, while Paige Hamilton recorded 13 digs and Daniella Villarreal added 10 digs.
