TULSA, Okla. -

Tulsa volleyball will face seven opponents that played in the 2012 NCAA Championship, including three teams at the Donald W. Reynolds Center, Head Coach Steven McRoberts announced Monday.

The Golden Hurricane finished the 2012 campaign with a 26-10 record and a 14-2 mark in Conference USA. TU won its third-straight regular season title, and won the C-USA Tournament to earn a spot in the NCAA Championship.

Highlighting the home slate is the Golden Hurricane Classic, where TU will face two 2012 NCAA Championship participants in Arkansas and Northern Colorado, along with Texas State on September 13-14 at the Reynolds Center.

In addition to its home tournament, the Hurricane will face Dayton, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Miami and Long Island. Ten of TU's opponents were ranked in the top-100 RPI in 2012.

"This will be another challenging schedule for our young team and we are excited about the challenge," commented McRoberts. "We will have multiple opportunities to build a good NCAA tournament resume as we will play many post-season teams and numerous Top 100 RPI teams."

Tulsa begins the season at the Dayton Invitational on August 30 and 31, where it will face the Flyers, Missouri State and Northeastern. Dayton finished 19th in the final AVCA Coaches Poll with a 27-5 record, while TU swept Missouri State, 3-0, last season, during its opening weekend.

"We jump right into the fire the first weekend playing three good teams," McRoberts said. "Dayton is a top 25 program and always gets large crowds, so it will be a fun environment. This is the type of weekend that will show us where we are at as a team."

The Hurricane opens up its home slate on September 3 as cross-town rival Oral Roberts rolls into the Reynolds Center for a 7 p.m. contest. TU dispatched ORU, 3-2, last season.

TU hits the road the following weekend for the Baylor Tournament, as the Hurricane will face the Bears, UT-Arlington and Mississippi State on September 6-7. Baylor is one of three Big 12 teams that Tulsa will face during its non-conference slate.

After a road contest at Kansas State on September 10, TU will host the Golden Hurricane Classic featuring Arkansas, Texas State and Northern Colorado. TU will face Arkansas in a 6:30 tilt on September 13th, before playing Texas State at 12 noon on September 14 and Northern Colorado at 6 p.m.

"The Golden Hurricane Classic will be three very good matches for us." McRoberts stated. "Both Arkansas and Northern Colorado were in the NCAA tournament last year. We expect this tournament to be great for our fans."

For the first time since 2002, Tulsa will host Oklahoma at the Reynolds Center on September 17. Oklahoma advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championship last year, and defeated TU, 3-2, during the opening weekend of the 2012 season.

Later that week, the Hurricane will travel to Norman, Okla. to compete in the Oklahoma Invitational on September 20 and 21, which features Long Island, Nebraska-Omaha, host Oklahoma and Miami. Long Island and Miami both made the NCAA Championship last season. Tulsa swept Nebraska-Omaha during the Jayhawk Invitational a season ago.

"We're facing Oklahoma at home this season for the first time in the past ten years," McRoberts said.  "This has turned into a great rivalry for us as well. We expect to get a lot of fans to this match. We will then return to Norman to play in OU's tournament the following weekend. It will be nice to be close to home as we prepare for the Conference USA schedule."

Tulsa will conclude its non-conference slate with an exhibition affair on September 27 against the Italian U23 Team at the Reynolds Center.

"This will be a great experience for our program and it will be an honor to host them in the Reynolds Center. We are hoping with the noon start that we can get a lot of the local schools to bus in their students like they did last year for the C-USA tournament."

The Hurricane opens up its Conference USA schedule on September 29 when it hits the road to face UAB. The Hurricane's first C-USA home tilt is on October 4 against Rice. With 15 teams in Conference USA this season, TU will face each league foe only once until the Conference USA Championship, hosted by Middle Tennessee, on November 22-24. TU will face several new faces this year in league play as Middle Tennessee, North Texas, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Charlotte, Louisiana Tech and UTSA join Conference USA.

"The conference schedule will be quite a challenge this year," McRoberts commented. "We will have such a different team and I can think of at least five teams that will have a legitimate shot at winning the conference championship this year. We only play each other one time, so it places even more importance on every single match. Tie-breakers and seeding in the C-USA tournament, or even just making the league tournament could hinge on one win or one loss."
