Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa women's volleyball team, the defending Conference USA Tournament Champions, was picked to finish in third-place in the 2008 C-USA preseason poll, as voted on by the league's coaches.

The Hurricane posted a 27-9 overall record and an 11-5 league mark a year ago, while finishing in fourth place during the regular season. Tulsa won three straight matches -- #5-seed Memphis, #1-seed Marshall and #3-seed UAB -- to win the Conference USA Tournament Championship and make its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.

Tulsa returns six letterwinners, including starters Malorey Grove, Hannah Stout and Kelsey Wood, but loses first-team all-conference selections Julia Silva and Fabiola Nepomuceno.

With all 13 players returning, the Tulane Green Wave was picked to win the C-USA title, while UAB was chosen to finish in second-place, followed by the Golden Hurricane. Rice is fourth, Marshall fifth and Houston sixth.

Tulsa opens the season the weekend of August 30-31 at the IUPUI Hampton Inn Invitational. Tulsa will face Jacksonville State, Evansville and IUPUI.
