Volleyball Plays Host to Radisson Tulsa Airport Invitational Friday and Saturday

TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa volleyball team plays host to the Radisson Tulsa Airport Invitational, featuring Gonzaga, Stephen F. Austin and Texas Tech, this weekend at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
Sept. 11-12 is Tulsa's Youth Volleyball Weekend. Young volleyball players are encouraged to wear their jerseys to the TU matches. The Hurricane players and coaches will sign autographs after each match during the weekend.

"We believe this will be the strongest field since The University of Tulsa has hosted a tournament," Tulsa Head Coach Ed Allen said. "It is coming at a good time for our team, as we prepare for what we expect to be a very challenging conference season. We are excited to see our young team continue to grow."
The tournament opens Friday with a match between Texas Tech and Gonzaga at 4:30 p.m., and the Golden Hurricane takes on Stephen F. Austin at 7 p.m. The full tournament schedule is below.
Tulsa (6-1), enters the weekend hitting .303 as a team (325 kills-98 errors-750 attempts), with 325 kills (13.54 k/set), 299 assists (12.46 a/s), 34 service aces, 328 digs (13.67 dig/s) and 62.0 total blocks (2.58 per set).
Stephen F. Austin (5-4) enters the tournament hitting .189 (402-189-1129) with 402 kills (13.40 k/s), 362 assists (12.07 a/s), 40 service aces, 469 digs (15.63 dig/s) and 64.0 total blocks (2.13 b/s). Gonzaga (2-4) enters the weekend with a .191 attack percentage (269-125-752), 269 kills (11.21 k/s), 252 assists (10.50 a/s), 29 service aces, 307 digs (12.79 dig/s) and 54.0 total blocks (2.25 b/s). Texas Tech (1-5), is hitting .165 as a team (187-93-568), with 187 kills (9.84 k/s), 162 assists (8.53 a/s), 28 service aces, 185 digs (9.74 dig/s) and 50.0 total blocks (2.63 per set).
The Golden Hurricane is led by the on the outside by senior Jennifer Eichler, who has 100 kills (4.17 kills per set), a .333 attack percentage, 22 total blocks and 115.0 points for the Hurricane. Freshman Tyler Henderson has 72 kills (3.00 k/s), hits .299, has nine blocks and has scored 77.5 points.
At middle blocker, junior Hannah Stout hits .500 with 67 kills and 24 blocks, while senior Julia Kenealy is hitting .375 with 35 kills, and leads the team with 36 total blocks. Freshman libero Jessica Adams leads the Hurricane with 119 digs (4.96 d/s) and has five service aces. Setters Rachel Vukson and Jordan Clampitt have 124 and 147 assists, respectively, and Clampitt adds 49 digs.
Tulsa and Stephen F. Austin have played four times; TU leads, 4-1. The Lady Jacks won the last meeting, 3-2, in 2007, but the Golden Hurricane won in 1983, 1984, 2003 and 2005. Tulsa and Gonzaga have played once; TU leads, 1-0. The Hurricane won the only meeting, 3-0, in 1996. Tulsa and Texas Tech have played four times; Texas Tech leads, 4-0. The Hurricane and the Red Raiders met four times between 1981 and 1990, but have not played since.
